Emma Olson Sharkey

Emma has served as outside counsel to ballot measure efforts in more than 15 states, advising clients throughout the initiative process, from campaign formation and qualification through post-election proceedings. She counsels campaigns on political and campaign finance laws, defends clients before state regulatory agencies and advises on ballot measure litigation strategy. She also serves as outside counsel to nonprofit organizations and political committees, helping clients structure and conduct political and issue advocacy consistent with federal tax law and state and federal campaign finance requirements.

A recognized authority on ballot measure law, Emma's work and commentary have appeared in or been cited by national and political media including The New York Times, The Washington Post, NBC News, TIME, The Hill, Slate, CBS News Radio and Democracy Docket.

Prior to joining TPLG, Emma was a partner at Elias Law Group, where she advised nonprofit organizations, campaigns and political committees on political law matters nationwide.
